Book 31, Question 120
Where do different birds sleep at night?
Most small birds tuck into dense bushes or trees and grip their perches.
Woodpeckers and chickadees may sleep in tree holes. Ducks and geese often sleep on the water, floating together. Some birds sleep on the ground, and others on high cliffs. Many tuck their beaks into their back feathers to stay warm. Wherever they sleep, they pick spots that are hard for hunters to reach.
