Book 31, Question 104
What is a lookout bird?
Some birds take turns as sentinels.
While the rest of the group eats, one bird perches in a high spot and watches for danger. If it spots a hawk or another threat, it gives a loud alarm call and everyone dives for cover. Florida scrub-jays and Arabian babblers use this team strategy. Taking turns means every bird gets to eat and rest.
