Book 31, Question 100
How can you remember bird songs with silly sentences?
Bird watchers use memory tricks to help them recognize songs.
A barred owl’s hoot sounds like “Who cooks for you?” An eastern towhee seems to say “Drink your tea!” A robin’s cheery song is often described as “cheerily, cheer up.” The words aren’t exact, but the rhythm sticks in your head. After you match the sentence to the song, you can find that bird again.
