Book 31, Question 99

Do birds put calls together like words?

Scientists studying Japanese tits found that these small birds can combine two different calls to make a new message.

One call means “danger,” and another means “come here.” When put in the right order, the birds seem to understand “danger, come here.” When researchers swapped the order, the birds did not react the same way. It suggests that order matters, just as it does in our sentences.
