Book 31, Question 88

Why do crows caw so much?

Crows are very social, and their caws carry meaning.

Some caws are greetings between family members, some warn of danger, and others call neighbors to join in a group effort. A crow can tell which crow is calling and may respond differently to a friend than to a stranger. When crows gather and caw loudly, they may be teaming up to chase a hawk away.
