Book 31, Question 22
Why do some ducks sleep with one eye open?
A duck can rest half of its brain at a time.
When it sleeps, one eye may stay open and the half of the brain connected to that eye stays awake, watching for danger. Ducks at the edge of a sleeping group often keep the outward eye open, while ducks in the middle can close both. It is a clever way to rest safely.
