Book 31, Question 16

How many feathers does a bird have?

It depends on the bird.

A hummingbird can have around 1,000 feathers. A small songbird, such as a sparrow, may have around 2,000 to 3,000. A large swan can have about 25,000, most of them tiny, fluffy ones hidden underneath. Birds usually have more feathers in winter, which helps them keep warm during the coldest weather.
