Book 30, Question 132
How do volunteers help scientists check Ontario's lakes?
In Ontario, volunteers in a program called the Lake Partner Program take simple measurements, such as how deep a Secchi disk can be seen and a water sample for phosphorus.
They send results to scientists, who track changes over many years. A single scientist can't visit every lake, so thousands of helpers make a huge difference. This kind of project is called citizen science.
