How much water does it take to make a T-shirt or an apple?
Water goes into making almost everything we use.
Growing cotton for one T-shirt can take about 2,700 liters of water, which is what one person might drink in more than three years. An apple takes about 100 liters. Scientists call this virtual water, or hidden water. It reminds us that wasting things wastes water, too, and that reusing is smart.
