Book 30, Question 50
How does a lake change from January to July?
In January, ice covers many northern lakes, the water is cold and still, and animals move slowly.
By April, the ice melts and the lake turns over. In June, the surface warms, plants and algae grow, and fish spawn. In July, the lake is layered and busy with insects, birds, and swimmers. Then fall begins the cycle again.
