Book 30, Question 25
What do the lines on a lake depth chart mean?
A lake map shows the outline of the shore, islands, inflowing streams, and sometimes depth lines called contours.
Close contour lines mean the bottom drops steeply, and widely spaced lines mean it slopes gently. Colors can show depth, with darker blue for deeper water. A scale tells how big the lake is. Reading a map helps plan safe, fun trips.
