Book 30, Question 2
Can a space rock make a lake?
Yes.
A big space rock that crashes into Earth digs a bowl-shaped crater, which can fill with water. In northern Quebec, the Clearwater Lakes are a twin pair formed by an impact. Manicouagan, a huge ring-shaped lake, surrounds an island at the center of a crater that is about 214 million years old. Today, the crater is eroded, but the ring of water shows where it was.
