Book 29, Question 135
Why does picking vegetables make some plants grow more?
With cut-and-come-again crops like lettuce, kale, and basil, picking outer leaves leaves the center growing.
Beans, peas, and peppers keep making flowers and pods if you keep picking, because the plant is trying to make seeds. If you let pods mature, the plant slows. Regular harvesting keeps many plants productive for weeks.
