Book 29, Question 76
How many inches of rain or watering does a vegetable bed need each week?
Most gardens need about one inch of water a week, from rain and watering together.
A rain gauge or an empty can shows how much has fallen. Seedlings need small, frequent drinks because their roots are shallow. Sandy soil dries fast and needs more watering, while clay holds water longer. Container plants need checking daily in summer. Always check the soil rather than following a fixed schedule.
