Book 29, Question 74

Why do gardeners let spiders stay in the garden?

Spiders catch many insects that eat plants, including flies, beetles, and moths.

Orb weavers spin round webs between plants overnight. Others hunt on the ground or leaves. Most spiders in Canadian gardens are harmless to people, but watch them from a distance and never touch. A dewy morning shows webs in beautiful detail. Leaving spiders alone keeps pests down.
