Book 29, Question 56
Which animals are considered garden pests?
A pest is any animal that harms the plants you want.
Cabbage worms nibble leaves, tomato hornworms munch tomatoes, Colorado potato beetles eat potato plants, and slugs chew seedlings. But each is part of nature, and many pests are food for birds and other animals. Gardeners watch for damage, learn which animal causes it, and pick the gentlest solution.
