Book 29, Question 48
How do strawberry plants make new plants?
Strawberry plants send out long, thin stems called runners that crawl across the ground.
Where a runner touches soil, it puts down roots and a new plant forms. The new plant is a clone, identical to its parent. Gardeners can snip runners and plant them in new spots to make more plants. Strawberries also grow from seeds on the outside of the berries.
