Book 29, Question 44
Why do garden plants droop on hot afternoons?
On hot days, leaves lose water through tiny pores faster than the roots can supply it.
The plant's cells lose their water pressure and go limp, just as a balloon goes slack. In the evening, when it's cooler, most plants perk up. If a plant is still wilted in the morning, it needs water. Watering in the morning helps plants get through the heat.
