Book 28, Question 139
Why are playing fields different sizes?
A field's size is chosen to fit the game.
Soccer, with long passes and lots of running, needs a big field. Basketball uses a small court because the ball is easily passed and shot and games are fast. Hockey rinks are sized for skating speed. If a field was too small, play would be crowded and unsafe, and if too big, scoring would be hard.
