What does a 75 percent free-throw shooter really mean?
It means that over many shots, the player makes about three out of every four.
It does not guarantee the next shot, because each shot is a new chance. After 100 attempts, you'd expect around 75 makes, though you might get 70 or 80. This is probability: it describes what tends to happen over many tries, not what will happen next.
