Book 28, Question 120
How do wind tunnels help sports teams?
A wind tunnel is a tunnel where fans blow air over an object, so scientists can see and measure how air moves around it.
Cyclists, skiers, and bobsled teams sit or stand in tunnels to test equipment, clothing, and positions. Smoke or sensors show where air swirls. Small changes in posture or helmets can save fractions of seconds in a race.
