Book 28, Question 60
Why do racing cyclists crouch low?
At high speeds, most of a cyclist's effort goes into pushing air out of the way.
Air drag grows quickly as speed increases, so cutting the size of the body that faces the wind makes a big difference. Racers bend low with their elbows in and wear smooth, pointed helmets and clothing. Streamlining can save minutes in a long race.
