Book 28, Question 42
Why do tennis balls behave differently on clay, grass, and hard courts?
On a clay court, the loose, gritty surface grips the ball and slows it, making it bounce high and slow.
On grass, the ball skids low and fast because the blades are slippery and soft. A hard court is in between. Players choose different styles for each surface, and a few champions are great on all three.
