Book 28, Question 14
Why are some balls round and others pointy?
Round balls roll and bounce in predictable ways, which suits soccer, basketball, and baseball.
Pointed ovals, like those used in rugby and American football, can be thrown in a spiral and carried under one arm. Their bounces are unpredictable, which adds fun to the game. Each ball shape is a good match for the way the sport is played.
