Why do good instructions matter so much?
A great invention is hard to use if directions are confusing.
Clear instructions use simple words, numbered steps, and pictures. Designers test them by watching someone follow the steps for the first time. Where the person gets stuck, the instructions need work. Sometimes a product is designed so well that few instructions are needed at all.
