Book 26, Question 95
Why did eight-track tapes disappear?
The tape looped inside a big cartridge.
In the 1960s and 1970s, eight-track tapes played music in cars. But the tapes were bulky, the sound could change between tracks, and songs sometimes broke in the middle. Cassette tapes were smaller and could record, so they took over. Later, CDs and digital music replaced cassettes. Technology often improves in small steps.
