Book 26, Question 90
What happened to the Segway?
People expected it to change how cities move.
In 2001, inventor Dean Kamen unveiled the Segway, a two-wheeled, self-balancing scooter that stays upright with gyroscopes and sensors. But it cost thousands of dollars, and many places didn't allow it on sidewalks or roads. It became popular for tours and security patrols. Production of the original model ended in 2020.
