Book 26, Question 45

How did fireflies make LED lights brighter?

Scientists studied the glowing part of a firefly's body and found that it is covered with tiny, jagged scales.

These let more light escape instead of being trapped inside. When they gave the surface of LEDs a similar shape, the lights became brighter without extra energy. A small bug turned out to be a lighting expert.
