Book 25, Question 112
How do scientists measure the quality of the air?
Air-monitoring stations pull air through instruments that count tiny particles and measure gases such as ozone.
In Canada, the numbers are combined into the Air Quality Health Index, a scale from 1 to 10 or more. Low numbers mean clean air, and high numbers mean people should take it easy outdoors. Checking the index helps you plan your day.
