Book 25, Question 48

Why are more city buses powered by electricity?

An electric bus runs on a big battery and a quiet motor.

It has no tailpipe, so it makes cleaner air on busy streets. It can also use its brakes to put some energy back into the battery. Buses are charged at night or at stops using special plugs. Because city buses stop and start a lot, electric motors work well for them.
