Book 25, Question 46
Why do some cities have ferries?
Where water cuts a city in two, a ferry can carry people and cars across without needing an expensive bridge or tunnel.
Boats float because they push away water equal to their weight, so even big ferries stay up. Toronto's ferries take people to the Toronto Islands. Ferries are important in places like Vancouver and Halifax, too.
