Book 24, Question 48
How do small insects survive the winter in the soil?
Many insects hide in the soil or leaf litter during winter, where it does not get as cold. Some, like bumblebee queens, dig into the ground and sleep. Some lay eggs or form pupae that wait for spring. Others make natural antifreeze in their bodies.
