Do animals underground ever run out of air?
Usually not. Soil is full of air-filled gaps, and fresh air seeps in from above. Many burrows have more than one entrance, which lets air move through them. Some animals, like prairie dogs, build mounds that act like chimneys to pull air through the tunnels.
