Why Do Some Lizards Lift Their Feet One at a Time on Hot Sand?
The shovel-snouted lizard of the Namib Desert does a little dance when the sand is too hot! It raises two feet off the ground while resting on the other two, then switches. Each foot gets a break to cool down in the air.
