What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. How do scientists learn about wild primates without bothering them?

The Big Idea

How do scientists study wild monkeys and apes? Without bothering them! Let's find out.

Quiet Watching

Step one: Quiet Watching. To study wild monkeys and apes, scientists spend months or years quietly watching from a distance. They take notes, use binoculars, and set up cameras.

Getting Used To

Step two: Getting Used To. After a while, the animals get used to the observer and act naturally. Scientists learn the animals' names and families, and follow them for years.

Hidden Cameras

Step three: Hidden Cameras. Cameras that turn on when something moves can capture shy animals. This patient watching has taught us a lot about how primates live.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Watch. Record. Capture. Needed.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Cameras that turn on when something moves can capture shy animals. Studies take years. Notes record behavior. Watch from a distance.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! With a grown-up, pick a place outside. Watch silently for ten minutes. Write down what animals do. Don't move closer. What did you notice?

Outro

The animals get used to them and act naturally, revealing how they live. Science is amazing! What will you discover next?
