Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Why do orangutans have such long arms?

The Big Idea

Orangutans have super long arms! Longer than they are tall! Why?

Rainforest Home

Step one: Rainforest Home. An orangutan lives in rainforest trees in Southeast Asia. It spends most of its life high above the ground.

Seven-Foot Span

Step two: Seven-Foot Span. Its arms can stretch to about seven feet when held out, much wider than its body is tall. That's longer than a bed!

Reaching Far

Step three: Reaching Far. Long arms and strong hands help it reach branches far away and hang on while it moves slowly through the treetops. Their long arms make them superb climbers.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Southeast Asia. Seven feet. Strong. Treetops.
