The Big Idea

Which mammal family is biggest? It's not cats or dogs! It's the rodents!

Four in Ten

Step one: Four in Ten. Rodents win by a lot. About four out of every ten mammal kinds are rodents, such as mice, rats, squirrels, beavers, and guinea pigs.

Living Anywhere

Step two: Living Anywhere. They can live nearly anywhere because they're small, eat many foods, and can have many babies. You probably live near a few kinds.

Growing Teeth

Step three: Growing Teeth. Rodents have front teeth that never stop growing. Gnawing keeps those teeth worn down to just the right length.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Tiny. Climbers. Builders. Always growing.
