What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. How do birds find a brand-new bird feeder so quickly?

The Big Idea

Put up a new bird feeder... And soon birds show up! How do they find it so fast?

Explorers

Step one: Explorers. Birds are good explorers. They notice new objects and food from far away, and they can see a feeder from high in the sky.

Follow the Leader

Step two: Follow the Leader. Other birds follow when they see one land to eat. Soon the word spreads.

Bold and Shy

Step three: Bold and Shy. Some birds, such as titmice and jays, are bold and visit first. Others wait and watch before they come closer.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Spot it. Spreads news. Go first. Watch first.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Some birds can find a new feeder in less than an hour. Jays are often first to visit. Birds watch each other. Seeds are easy to spot.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! With a grown-up, hang a small feeder where you can see it from a window. Write down when the first bird arrives. Count how many come in one hour. Note which kind came first. Was it a bold bird?
