Book 31, Question 48 · Video
How do birds clean their beaks?
After a meal, birds often wipe their beaks back and forth on a branch, a rock, or the ground. This scrapes off sticky food, mud, or seeds. Some birds also use their feet or a quick shake of the head. A clean beak works better, and it prevents old food from drying onto the surface. Watch closely and you may see a bird wiping its beak like you might wipe your mouth.
