What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Which fish live in Ontario's lakes?

The Big Idea

Ontario's lakes are full of fish! Which ones live there? Let's meet them.

Lots of Fish

Step one: Lots of Fish. Ontario lakes are home to walleye, northern pike, smallmouth and largemouth bass, yellow perch, and lake trout. Many smaller fish like minnows live there too.

Favorite Spots

Step two: Favorite Spots. Different fish prefer different parts of a lake. Pike hide in weedy shallows, walleye like dim light, and lake trout stay in cold, deep, clear water.

Identifying

Step three: Identifying. A fish field guide helps you identify them. It shows their shapes, colors, and where they live.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Dim light. Weedy shallows. Rocks and weeds. Cold and deep.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Lake trout can live for decades. Pike hide in weeds. Walleye like dim light. Guides help identify.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Draw a lake from the side. Show shallow weeds and deep water. Draw five lake fish. Put each where it likes to live. Label each fish.
