How can a comic explain how your invention works?

What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. How can a comic explain how your invention works?

The Big Idea

Comics aren't just for fun! They can explain how an invention works. Let's draw one.

Three Panels

Step one: Three Panels. A comic strip shows a story in steps. In panel one, show the problem; in panel two, show your invention; in panel three, show it working.

Words

Step two: Words. Add speech bubbles and labels. Comics are good for explaining ideas to people of many ages.

Real Uses

Step three: Real Uses. Patent drawings and instruction sheets also use pictures to show steps clearly. Pictures can be easier to follow than words alone.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Panels show steps. Bubbles show talk. Labels name parts. Arrows show motion.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Some real instruction manuals use comic-style pictures. Comics work for all ages. Arrows show action. Add a little humor.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Draw a three-panel comic. Show the problem in panel one. Show your invention in panel two. Show the happy result in panel three. Add speech bubbles and labels.

Outro

A comic can explain your invention in three panels: the problem, the invention, and the result. Speech bubbles and labels help, just like patent drawings and instruction sheets. A picture really can be worth a thousand words. Science is amazing! Keep wondering and keep exploring! Share what you learned with someone at home, and see what they think!
