Book 25, Question 99 · Video
How can you find the age of a city tree?
The best way is to count the rings in a cut stump, since a tree adds one ring each year, but never cut a living tree. For a living tree, you can measure around the trunk at about chest height and divide by about three to estimate its width. Foresters have charts that estimate age from width for each species. Big old trees are precious.
