Intro
Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. What happens when you put a paper clip on the tail of a plane?
The Big Idea
Balance decides how a paper plane glides. A clip on the nose can steady it. A clip on the tail can make it wobble!
Find the Balance
Step one: find the balance. A plane flies steadily when its balance point is near the front of the wings. That sweet spot keeps the glide smooth.
Clip on the Nose
Step two: clip on the nose. A paper clip on the nose moves the balance point forward. That makes the nose heavy and the glide steadier.
Clip on the Tail
Step three: clip on the tail. A clip on the tail moves the balance point back. The plane becomes tail-heavy, so the nose pops up and the plane stalls and wobbles.
A Closer Look
Let's take a closer look! Balance sits near the wings. A nose clip steadies. A tail clip wobbles. Airlines watch balance too.
Quick Facts
Quick facts! A nose clip moves balance forward. A tail clip moves balance backward. Tail-heavy planes can stall and wobble. Airline crews load bags and fuel so the balance point stays safe.
Think Like a Scientist
Now, think like a scientist! Make a paper plane that glides well. Add one paper clip to the nose and test it three times. Then move the clip to the tail and test it three times. Throw away from people and pets, and never at faces. Ask a grown-up to help you stay safe.
Outro
A paper clip shifts a plane's balance point: on the nose it can steady the glide, and on the tail it can make the nose pop up, stall, and wobble, just as airlines watch balance when they load bags. Science is amazing! What will you discover next? Every question is a new adventure, so keep wondering and keep exploring with me! Ask a grown-up to help you try the mission safely. Keep looking up!
