What New Energy Ideas Are Scientists Testing?

What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. What new energy ideas are scientists testing?

The Big Idea

Scientists and engineers never stop testing new ideas. Some might power our world someday. Let's peek into the lab!

Better Solar

Step one: better solar. Some scientists are improving solar cells to catch more sunlight. Some experimental solar cells are thin and bendy like plastic.

Bigger Batteries

Step two: bigger batteries and sea turbines. Others are building bigger batteries. Some are building floating wind turbines out at sea.

Fusion

Step three: fusion. Researchers are working on fusion, which is the process that powers the Sun, to see if it can be used for electricity. Nobody knows which ideas will win, but the testing is exciting.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Solar cells get better. Batteries get bigger. Turbines float on the sea. Fusion copies the Sun.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Remember, some experimental solar cells are thin and bendy like plastic. Bigger batteries are being built. Floating wind turbines are being tested at sea. Fusion tries to copy the way the Sun makes energy.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Imagine a new way to make energy. Draw it. Explain to a friend how it would work. Give it a fun name! Write down what you notice, and share it with a grown-up.

Outro

Scientists are testing better solar cells, bigger batteries, floating wind turbines, and fusion. Maybe you will invent the next big idea! Keep asking questions, because the next big energy idea could come from a curious kid. Science is amazing! Keep asking questions! Every question is a new adventure, so keep wondering and keep exploring with me! Crafty Clover can be found on Amazon Books, Google Bookstore, and Apple Books. Available for purchase or download!
