What Does Energy Efficiency Mean?

What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. What does energy efficiency mean?

The Big Idea

Two light bulbs can glow just as bright. But one can use much less electricity. That is called energy efficiency!

Same Job

Step one: the same job. Energy efficiency means getting the job done using less energy. An efficient light bulb gives the same brightness as an old one but uses a fraction of the power.

Less Waste

Step two: less waste. Most machines waste some energy as heat. So a more efficient machine wastes less.

Good for Everyone

Step three: good for everyone. Being efficient saves money, uses fewer resources, and helps the environment. It is like getting more miles from the same snack.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! An old bulb wastes heat. An LED wastes far less. Both make the same light. The LED saves money.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! An LED bulb can use about one-sixth the electricity of an old-style bulb for the same light. Old bulbs waste a lot of heat. Efficient machines save money. They also help the environment.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! With a grown-up, compare the labels of two bulbs. Pick one LED and one old type. See how much light each gives. See how many watts each uses. Tell a grown-up what you discover!

Outro

Energy efficiency means getting the same job done with less energy, which saves money and helps the environment. The next time you pick a bulb, look for the efficient one. Science is amazing! What will you discover next? The more you look around, the more wonders you will find, so keep your eyes open! Crafty Clover can be found on Amazon Books, Google Bookstore, and Apple Books.
