Why Do People Explore?

What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hey there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Why do people explore?

The Big Idea

People have always wanted to see what is over the next hill. Curiosity plus a plan! Humans map new places to find food, safety, and answers. Exploring means going to find out something new. Explorers have crossed oceans, climbed mountains, and traveled into space.

A Question Appears

Step one: a question appears. It starts with wondering, like what is over the hill, or under the sea. Curiosity is the spark of every exploration. Being prepared keeps explorers safe, so they can bring back what they find.

A Plan Is Made

Step two: a plan is made. Explorers gather tools, ideas, and a safe way to go. A good plan includes maps, food, water, and friends. Every big discovery began with a curious person paying attention.

People Go Look

Step three: people go look. Then they go and observe closely, and stay curious. They notice details, and write down what they see.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look at how exploring works! First, a question appears. Second, a plan is made. Third, people go look. And fourth, a map or story comes home, so we can share what we learned with others.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Exploring can be in a backyard, a library, or on a mountain. Some explorers travel far, and some explore the tiny world of a pond or a puddle. Scientists explore the deep ocean, and even outer space. Explorers of long ago drew maps, so that others could follow. Everyone can be an explorer, just by asking questions and looking closely.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! With a grown-up, explore one new block near your home. Bring a notebook and a pencil, and stay curious. Look closely, and notice things you have never seen before. Draw what you see. Can you explain what question you were trying to answer?

Outro

You are an explorer, too. Keep asking questions and looking closely! Crafty Clover can be found on Amazon Books, Google Bookstore, and Apple Books. Available for purchase or download! Bye for now!
