Intro

Hey there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Why do things fall down?

The Big Idea

When you drop a ball, it always falls to the ground. Have you ever wondered why? Gravity is a pull toward Earth! Earth is huge, so its pull is strong. That pull is called gravity, and it pulls things down toward the ground. Gravity works on everything, big or small, all over the world.

Earth Has Mass

Step one: Earth has mass. Mass is how much stuff something is made of, and Earth is made of a gigantic amount. Anything with mass has a little bit of pull.

Mass Pulls

Step two: mass pulls. The more mass something has, the stronger its pull is. Earth has so much mass that its pull is strong enough to feel. And it does not matter how old you are. Gravity pulls everyone the same way.

You and a Ball Are Pulled

Step three: you and a ball are pulled. Earth pulls on you, on a ball, on a leaf, and on everything else, toward its center. That is why you stay on the ground, and do not float away.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look at gravity! First, Earth has mass. Second, mass pulls. Third, you and a ball are pulled. And fourth, things fall toward the ground.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! The moon has gravity too, just weaker. On the moon, you would weigh about one sixth of your weight on Earth, and you could jump much higher. Gravity also keeps the moon circling Earth, and Earth circling the sun. Without gravity, air, water, and people would drift into space.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Hold a pebble and a leaf at the same height. Drop them together, and watch closely. Which path is straighter, the pebble's or the leaf's? Can you explain why the leaf floats and wobbles more?

Outro

Gravity is Earth's gentle pull, and it keeps us all together! Crafty Clover can be found on Amazon Books, Google Bookstore, and Apple Books. Available for purchase or download! Bye for now!
