Intro

Hey there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Why does kindness feel good?

The Big Idea

When you help someone, your brain lights up a little reward spark. Brains like connecting with other people, and they like caring, too. That spark is why a kind act can feel so good inside.

You Help

Step one: you help. Maybe you hand a friend a cup of water, hold a door, or share a snack. Helping is a small act, but it connects you with another person. It feels good to be useful.

Brain Tags It As Good

Step two: your brain tags it as good. Helping switches on reward areas that also light up for things you enjoy. Your brain marks the moment with a little good tag, so it remembers. Scientists call this kind of reward a helper's glow.

Warm, Proud Feeling

Step three: you feel warm and proud. That good tag can turn into a cozy, glowing feeling in your chest. Many kids say they feel happy, proud, and closer to the other person. Kindness can also make the other person feel good, too.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look at the brain's good tag. Here is the brain, the part of you that decides what feels important. This green check is the good tag. It says, that felt good! And the reward spark makes you want to do it again.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Kindness can lift both kids, the giver and the receiver. Even small acts count, like a smile or a thank you. Being kind can also help you feel connected to others. And the more you practice kindness, the easier it can feel!

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Do one tiny kind act today, like sharing or saying thank you. Write down what you did. Then notice your body and write what you felt, like warm or calm. Last, write what you noticed. Did you want to help again?
