Intro
Hey there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Why do we get dizzy when we spin?
The Big Idea
Have you ever spun around and around, and then the whole world kept spinning? That is because fluid in your inner ear keeps moving even after you stop. Let's see how your ears and brain get mixed up.
You Spin
Step one: you spin. Around and around you go, and your head turns with your body. Deep inside each ear, your balance system is paying attention to every turn.
Ear Fluid Swirls
Step two: the fluid in your ear swirls. Inside your inner ear are three loops filled with fluid, called the semicircular canals. When you spin, the fluid inside starts to move and swirl.
You Stop, It Keeps Going
Step three: you stop, but the fluid keeps moving. Your body is still, but the fluid is still swishing, so your ears tell your brain you are still spinning. Your eyes say you are still. Your ears say you are moving. That mix-up is dizziness!
A Closer Look
Let's take a look inside your ear. These loops are the semicircular canals. They are filled with fluid, and they help you keep your balance. This is the ear canal, the passage that sound travels through. And the moving fluid is what tells your brain that you are still spinning.
Quick Facts
Quick facts! Sitting still lets the fluid settle. After a little while, the spinning feeling stops. Your balance system lives right inside your ears. Feeling dizzy from spinning is normal, and it goes away.
Think Like a Scientist
Now, think like a scientist! With a grown-up nearby, and in a safe, open space, spin around twice. Then stop and stare at one spot. What do you notice? Does the spot seem to move? Record what happens, and explain why it happens using what you learned today.

Now you know why the world spins when you stop. Just be careful, and spin safely! Crafty Clover can be found on Amazon Books, Google Bookstore, and Apple Books. Available for purchase or download! Bye for now!
