Intro

Hi! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Why do we have two eyes?

The Big Idea

Blink, blink! Why two eyes, and not just one? Your eyes work together as a team. They help you see the world in depth, and stay safe. Let's see how, in three steps!

Two Views

Step one: two views, a few centimeters apart! Your eyes sit about six centimeters apart, about the width of two fingers. So each eye sees the world from a slightly different spot. That means your eyes get two different pictures!

Brain Stacks

Step two: your brain stacks them into depth! Your brain combines the two views, like fitting puzzle pieces together. The tiny differences tell your brain how near or far things are. The result? One picture, with depth!

Spare Eye

Step three: a spare eye, and a wider view! Two eyes give you a backup. If one is covered, you can still see. They also widen your field of view. More view, more safety!

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look at the two-eye overlap. Your left eye sees one view, and your right eye sees another. In the middle, the two views overlap. That overlap is where your brain builds depth and dimension!

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Predators, like wolves, often have eyes facing forward, for depth, to help them hunt. Prey animals, like deer, often have eyes on the sides, for a wide view of danger. Rabbits can see almost all the way around them! And 3D movies work by showing each eye a slightly different picture.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Hold two pencils a few centimeters apart. Close one eye, and try to touch the tips of the erasers together. Now open both eyes, and try again! What changes? Two eyes. Many advantages. Pretty clever!

Outro

So two eyes team up with your brain, to give you depth, a wider view, and a handy backup! Remember, Crafty Clover can be found on Amazon Books, Google Bookstore, and Apple Books. Available for purchase or download! Bye for now!
